crosswalk after school ministry

CROSSWALK AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM operates from 3-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays & Thursdays (during the school year).  There is no fee, and the program is for Middle School and High School students in Henderson County. Activities offered include:  Sports – Basketball, indoor football, volleyball, wiffleball,  etc.;  gaming systems and arcade games - air hockey, ping-pong, billiards, and Foosball; arts and crafts (as scheduled). Students can memorize Bible verses related to the theme or topic we are talking about for the week. Two days a week we have a mandatory homework time where students work on their homework from school. Also, we sometimes offer skills classes during this time as an alternate for those that do not want to do homework. These skills classes vary from learning about various vocational opportunities, to job and interpersonal skills. The other two days we have Bible study with the students. This is a time where we share with students what God’s word has to say! Some of the students who participate in the after school program stay for the Wednesday evening student Bible Study and are active in other activities of FBC's student ministry.  If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, please contact Drew Gilbert at gilbertd@fbchnc.org
