The church is more than a Sunday morning service.

It is more than Wednesday night programs.

The Bible describes the church as a body of believers who need each other to function properly. Think of the church as a big puzzle.

A puzzle is not complete until every piece finds its proper place. This means that every member of the church has a purpose.

Here at First Baptist, we don’t just have a seat for you, we have a place for you.

Your place in Sunday School, Your place in ministry, your place in hospitality, and your place in missions.

I ask that you begin praying now, asking God to reveal where you could be best utilized. Where will you place your piece in the puzzle? Make this month your time to find your place at First Baptist Hendersonville.

–– Pastor Justin Alexander

We have a place for you in Sunday School.

We believe spiritual growth happens in the context of community. Getting connected can make all the difference. We all crave a sense of belonging and to be a part of something greater than ourselves. That’s why finding a small group is so important. Sunday School is how we take care of each other.

We have a place for you in next generation ministry.

The future of any church depends on its ability to engage and empower the next generation. Every Christian is called to make disciples and pass on the faith. Our ministries to preschoolers, kids, and teenagers are growing at a rapid pace. That is something we should celebrate!

The opportunity to serve the next generation at First Baptist has never been greater than right now!

    I WANT TO SERVE

  • WE HAVE A PLACE FOR YOU IN MISSIONS

Builders for Christ: Volunteers show the love of God to home owners in tangible ways by building ramps, performing minor repairs, and doing yard work.    Through these carpentry projects, they point others in our community to Jesus, the Master Builder.   All willing volunteers are welcomed, both those who have skills and those with little or no experience.  Please contact John Roach at mandjroach@yahoo.com with any questions.

Disaster Relief: When catastrophic events happen, we as God’s people often respond by giving to relief efforts.   But what if we could actually be boots on the ground, serving those who are victims of disaster?  In cooperation with N.C. Baptists, we respond by putting on our yellow shirts and going where survivors need to see and hear the gospel which gives hope.  Reach out to John Roach (mandjroach@yahoo.com) to learn more.

Crosswalk:  In this after-school ministry, “90-minute missionaries” seek to fulfill the example given in Ephesians 5:1-2: “Be imitators of God, as dearly loved children, and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us.”   Volunteers connect with students Tuesdays and Thursdays in a variety of ways, including Scripture memory, serving up snacks, and mentoring.  Contact Drew Gilbert for more information (gilbertd@fbchnc.org).

Love’s Kitchen: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in…”   Jesus’ parable in Matthew 25 sums up why each Thursday volunteers provide a hot meal, clothing, and groceries to anyone in need.   Opportunities for service range from washing dishes to greeting those who come through our doors.   Email Dave Gerhardt if interested (dwghardt@gmail.com).

ServeNC is a statewide emphasis of our N.C. Baptists for churches to “lift up Jesus and love people” right in our own backyard.  During the week of August 3 to 10, F.B.C. will serve our community by working with local organizations which we support throughout the year: The Storehouse, Interfaith Assistance Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Blue Ridge Jail Ministry, and the Salvation Army.  Project dates and details will be announced soon.   Please watch for more information in the FOCUS, church bulletins, and email blasts.

Mission Control: “Apart from me you can do nothing.”  Jesus calls us to unashamedly depend upon him.  Our witness amounts to nothing if we do not pray.   All of our partnering missionaries and mission teams depend upon our church’s prayers.  More and more people will hear and respond to the gospel as God’s people pray.   The third Sunday of each month at 11:30 in room A-100 we meet to hear prayer requests and praises of our missionaries around the world.   Ask Jeff Carson (jefcarson5@gmail.com) how you can facilitate prayer for missions in your class or small group study.
